Minsmere RSPB Reserve
The Mismere RSPB Reserve is probably the finest bird watching site in the country and is within an easy picturesque 15 minute drive from 'Bankside b&b'. There are numerous hides and an enormous variety of birds can be seen throughout the year regardless of the season.
The Minsmere Reserve has been described as 'The Jewel in the Crown of the RSPB' and attracts visitors from all parts of the world.
Minsmere Reserve

The Minsmere Reserve has an excellent Visitor Centre that gives friendly advice and has a well stocked shop. Whilst there why not visit the cafe and try their mouthwatering home made cakes?
Minsmere in April

The Mismere Reserve borders the very pretty National Trust Heathland at Dunwich which is a must to visit. Allow at least a day for the two sites and don't forget that the RSPB Minsmere Reserve is now open every day of the week from 9a.m. to dusk
Reserve Round up January 2010
Minsmere was re-awarded its 'Council of Europe Diploma' during the autumn – one of only five sites in the UK with this prestigious designation. Their website describes Minsmere as “the best place to watch birds in the UK”. Not just birds either! With more than 5500 species identified, Minsmere is the most important RSPB nature reserve for plants and animals. A recent highlight was the rediscovery of the rare bearded tooth fungus, last seen in 1999.
Don't forget to see the Konik ponies that are now grazing within the Reserve!
