Walking
If you wish to walk or hike the area abounds with a spectacular selection of footpaths that traverse heathland, forest, open fields and beach. There is a wide selection of walks, of numerous lengths, for varied abilities, with the majority being on relatively flat even countryside offering superb views. The area is not only spectacular in the summer but also in the autumn at leaf fall when the trees are a mass of varying shades of greens, browns and oranges. In the spring the new colours come through and many bird varieties return to nest.
Thw Dunwich area in particular has some fine heathland and coastal walks.

Dunwich Heath in late summer

Dunwich Heath and Dunwich Forest offer excellent walking opportunities together with spectacular displays of heather in season. Nearby is the quaint and atmospheric old coastal village of Dunwich. Dunwich village is the ideal place to stroll around, look at the old buildings or visit the local museum and find out about the 'drowned village'. Why not finish with the renowned Dunwich fish and chips at the Dunwich beach cafe, a drink at the old Ship Inn or afternoon tea at the highly recommended Bridge Nurseries tea rooms (Probably the best tea rooms in Suffolk!)?
