Southwold Area
Southwold
Southwold is under a 10 minute drive from 'Bankside b&b' and offers a pretty, peaceful and unspoilt traditional sea-side resort which is now blessed with a new award winning 'Victorian' style pier which was completed in 2003 and offers superb views of the town and the lighthouse. (Make sure you look at the unexpected events that happen at the water driven clock, especially on the hour and half past the hour!) The old fashioned Victorian style 'Under The Pier Show' amusements are well worth a look, whatever your age! Southwold Pier also has a very good restaurant serving snacks, lunchtime & evening meals.

There are many interesting shops in Southwold and a number of good eating establishments. Beach huts can be rented on the promenade (we can assist with bookings). There is a safe sandy bathing beach which has lifeguards in season, and a long pretty promenade for those leisurely walks.
Why not visit the Southwold Museum to see some of the fascinating history of this historic Town?
In the evening take a trip to the 66 seater Electric Picture Palace in Southwold. The atmospheric Cinema was opened in 2002 by Michael Palin and has regular screenings of classic films. For current films the Aldeburgh Cinema is a relaxing and friendly venue.
Every year there is the renowned Southwold Jazz Festival which in 2008 was held nearby at 'High Lodge', Darsham ( 10 minute drive from 'Bankside' ). It appears that due to venue problems there may not be a 2010 Festival.
Beccles
Beccles is the 'Beginning of the Broads' and is an easy 15 minute drive. Beccles itself is a historic market town which is well worth a visit and perhaps a cup of tea or coffee in 'Twyfords' cafe situated in a remarkably unchanged old gents' outfitters shop.
As Beccles is on the Broads both weekly and daily hire of boats is available in the town. This provides easy access to the whole of the broads.

Woottens Plants
'Bankside b&b' is also very convenient (Under a 10 minute drive) for the renowned 'Woottens Plants' plantsman's nursey', at Wenhaston. This Wenhaston Nursery specialises in plants only, and has a vast selection - difficult not to take one home!
Henstead Exotic Gardens
Again about a 10 minute drive from 'Bankside b&b' is the new 'Henstead Exotic Garden' where it is possible to see exotic plants growing in a most unlikely location!
